Carla Lucarella
(Buenos Aires, 1974. She lives and works in Buenos Aires) is a photographer and cinematographer.

She studied cinematography at the Centro de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica  (CERC) and at the Sindicato de la Industria Cinematográfica Argentina (SICA). She went on to study script writing, directing, montage, and art direction at the Taller Escuela de Buenos Aires (TEBA). She later studied digital editing and animation as well.

She began working as assistant camera for films and commercials in the early 2000s. She has worked on countless Argentine and foreign feature-length films, and in advertising and music videos, as focus puller and camerawoman. She has been the cinematographer on short films, television series, and commercials, slowly making her way in a field where, in Argentina, only 2% of all film crew positions are held by women.

As a VJ and lighting designer for theater and dance performances, she experiments with the interaction between projections and staging.

Mamushkas, a photography exhibition project based on material in her family archive, was declared a project of cultural importance by the Buenos Aires city government’s Mecenazgo program; it is sponsored by Banco Santander Río. The show will be on exhibit in Buenos Aires from March 15 to May 1, 2018; it was selected to be exhibited at the Centro de Fotografía de Montevideo from June 8 to July 8, 2018.
